About This Mortal Flesh – Matthew

Greetings friends! Thank you for taking the time to stop by and see what I am all about. I’ve been writing for about 25 years, the bulk of which consists of poetry in all its shades. I have darkness in me and I have light. I wield both at times. Writing is my way of balancing my system.

I am a spiritual person but I do not believe in organized religion. Religion breeds human judgment, division, destruction and death. I believe in truth, love and kindness.

I’m a husband and a father and I also work full time in law. I write in my spare time and I would eventually like to publish a book or two.

  1. Enjoy your poetry Matthew! Can relate well with purging darkness! 🙂 I’m quite choosy now about who I follow but want to read more of your poetry so am ticking the box! 🙂 See you in cyberspace – and thanks for putting yourself out there/here!

  2. Hi Matthew. Thank you for your visit to my blog and your kind comments. After reading your About page, I agree. We have a lot in common already! I have discovered I let emotion drive my writings because I am so in control of my emotions in “real life”. Well, I’m still very passionate but not as raw, I guess. I will be reading your posts very soon. I look forward to learning about you through your writing.

  3. Hi Matt, now I see your “about” page is back, earlier I couldn’t find it. I have a challenge for you, I would like to extend to you an invitation to participate in the Allergic to “E” Challenge, here is the link https://fieldofthorns.wordpress.com/2015/07/01/catch-my-drift/ It really was an intellectual challenge to write something without using the letter “e”, at least for me, LOL! I hope you pick up the torch and have fun with it!

    Take good care,

  4. I love the tagline you have for your blog. I love “Until It Sleeps” by Metallica. In fact, I posted that song on my blog yesterday — I connect with the lyrics — there are things that haunt me — those pesky inner demons can be relentless. And perhaps that is why I must write. It is both healing and harmful, but mostly it’s cathartic…and so I continue down this path. I look forward to reading more of your work.

  7. Hey Matt,

I relate 100% to your truth about light / dark, writing to keep the balance, and spirituality being about truth and not religion. Thank you for keeping it on the Real. 😉

    Wishing you every inspired thing,

    • Hey, thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment. I simply HAVE to be real; I know no other way. I just checked you out as well…you’re right up the street from me practically! I live in Wilmington. Looks like you’ve been around the blogosphere for a while. I’ve only been at it for about a year now. I swear I was born one generation too early! Podcasts, YouTube channels…all greek to me…not that I couldn’t learn how to produce them.

Anyway, thank you again for checking out one of my posts and seeing what I am all about. I wish you continued success in your endeavors! ‘Do ya thang’ Allison!

      • Wow – what fiercely good energy you have, neighbor / stranger / friend! 🙂 I look forward to checking out more of your site – I saw you are starting a new blog – will you be posting both here and there?

I’ve been around a while – Glory Begin is about 1.5 yrs old now and I had another site before this one . . .I love trying out all the various social platforms, but it can be overwhelming, too. Writing is where I feel most “at home.”

DO YA THANG, love. So glad to have connected!

  8. Hi Matt, it’s the Meg you already know – I’ve decided to adopt a pen name and start a new blog. My personal life will thus be compartmentalized from my writing… something I should have done long ago! I hope you’ll come join me!
