Cost

The sun serves to hide
life’s long dark days
just the shiny surface
on things far more foul

each day a joyful sorrow
masks worn now with ease
hiding from today, but
running towards tomorrow

I’ve given up escape
resolved to bear the cost
of a life not my own
of a world not my home

  1. Such beautiful yet sad words.
Reminds me of something I read yesterday. And other things I read today. Seems I have to write something about it all!
Hope you are well, and that the words aren’t completely auto-biographical.
